Milan citytrip - Travelguide

June 30, 2017

My boyfriend gave me the best birthday present ever. He booked a city trip to Milan, Italy. I didn't knew anything about it till his parents dropped us of at the airport. I couldn't imagine something like this.

I've never been in Italy so Milan was my first time. I expected a lot of shops, fashion, nice restaurants, ... Milan was exactly all of this. In this blogpost I will tell you more about my favorite places to help you plan your city trip to Milan.

We've been two days in Milan so we walked a lot to see everything and that's my first tip for you. Don't rent a car. Parking places are so difficult to find over here. We wanted to rent a Vespa but a lot of websites don't recommend renting a Vespa or motor cycle if you're not use to drive it in a big city. We decided to do everything by metro or bus but most of the times we walked. Walking was the best way to explore the city.

Top 5: what to visit

The first thing we visited was Castello Sforzesco. This is the biggest castle in Milan and is built in the 14th century. There are a lot of museums located in this castle. In these museums, you can find art from Leonardo Da Vinci and other famous artists.

The second thing and most popular thing was Duomo Santa Maria Nascente. This is the biggest cathedral worldwide. It's a beautiful building to see and to visit. You can go inside and take the stairs to the top, where you have an amazing view over Milan.

Next to the Duomo, you can find the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. This gallery is full of high end stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Massimo Dutti, ... the gallery was my favorite place in Milan. Everything is made of gold and looks so luxurious.

After visiting these things, it was time to eat something. We went to Navigli where we ate a pizza next to the water. Navigli is one of the parts of Milan that are the most touristy. This part of the city is perfect to have a dinner next to the lake. There are a lot of restaurants and bars where you can eat and drink whatever you want.

Later that they we visited Brera. Brera is another part of Milan. The most beautiful building are built here. Brera has the biggest market of Milan where you can buy fruit and vegetables for the day but also a lot of clothes, shoes and accessories. This market is only on Tuesday. You can recognize Brera by the flowers and platns on the buildings.
